Primary measurement – Transmission of data to DPE

Primary Synaptix LID (Local Intelligence Device) has been assessed and listed by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) as meeting the specifications of the NSW Floodplain Harvesting Measurement Policy.

The Primary SynaptiX LID is configured to interface with approved SDI-12 storage metering devices and data submission to the DPE Data Acquisition Service (DAS).

Secondary measurement – User access to data

Secondary Synaptix LID (Local Intelligence Device) Floodplain harvesting measurement has been assessed and listed by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) as meeting the specifications of a secondary measurement LID for the NSW Floodplain Harvesting Measurement Policy.

The Secondary SynaptiX LID is configured to interface with approved SDI-12 storage metering devices and data submission to the Novecom SynaptiX Asset Management System (SAMS) for user to access and download their data.

Benefits of SynaptiX LID:

  • Turnkey, plug and play
  • Minimal onsite integration required
  • Integrated solar panel means it is service-ready straight out of the box
  • Fully configured prior to shipping to the DQP
  • Awakes from transit mode with a button press sequence
  • LID connects to the storage metering device with the recommended cable adapter

We'll supply your complete measurement system

Landholders who receive a floodplain harvesting access licence must measure water taken from the floodplain, as required by the Floodplain Harvesting Measurement Policy 2020.

What this means is landholders must have an approved storage measurement system installed and certified by a Duly Qualified Person (DQP) before any floodplain water can be taken. Landholders have 12 months from the commencement of their water sharing plan to install primary metering equipment.

If landholders wish to floodplain harvest during this time, they will need to install, as a minimum, a secondary metering device, such as an approved and validated gauge board or electronic storage measurement system.

The Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) has gazetted a list of approved storage measurement hardware, and this is available on their website. Additionally, there is a listing of DQP’s who can be engaged to undertake installation and validation of storage measurement systems.

Novecom Pty Ltd (Novecom) has been an active participant in the development of approved storage measurement systems and worked through the process with DPE, Water NSW and NRAR to develop an approved local intelligence device (LID) for both primary and secondary measurement systems.

Novecom’s SynpatiX LID is locally designed, manufactured, and supported right here in NSW. The SynpatiX LID has been developed to address the specific requirements of floodplain harvesting measurement and the regulators.

The SynaptiX LID when paired with an approved storage meter provides the complete measurement and reporting system. The system must be installed by a DQP and registered with the DPE.
